Making a Branch Connection to the existing Vertical Soil Pipe
During the life of your plumbing it may be necessary to connect something called a branch to your soil system. To do this, the best way is to cut straight into the soil stack. A T shaped branch will need to be inserted for large pipes, but for smaller pipework there is something called a Boss. Walthamstow Boiler Repair have expertise in all plumbing jobs. The procedure below is for jointing into a plastic drainage pipe:1). Firstly buy a strap on Boss for the correct size of waste pipe you are working with.2). Once you have it you will be able to cut the right sized hole in the existing soil stack. The hole should be cut with a special hole saw which has a central drill bit fitted in the centre of a round toothed blade. Before cutting the pipe make sure that the saw is the right size for the Boss fitting.3). Once everything is in place and you have access to the soil pipe make sure that the system is not used by anyone until the job is complete. Drill the hole at the correct location and allow for any slope gradient. The Boss should not be fitted too high as water will be trapped in the pipe as it drains. Walthamstow Boiler Repairs are qualified professionals.4). Confirm that the Boss fits snuggly to the pipe.5). Clean the mating surfaces to provide a clean plastic to plastic joint.6). Apply appropriate solvent cement as per the Boss manufacturers guidelines.7). Push the fitting into place and hold firmly until the cement has set, usually in a few minutes. 8). Some designs of Boss have an included O ring that enables you to push the small waste pipe into the fitting. There are others that require a rubber cone to be inserted before making the final connection.
